Clem Labine Receives the 2012 Award for Excellence in the Arts!

One of our good friends, Clem Labine, was recently honored by the receipt of the Newington-Cropsey Cultural Studies Center’s 2012 Award for Excellence in the Arts. The award was given during an evening in Clem’s honor at the Union League Club.

Clem is one of New York’s most accomplished preservationists. After he bought and restored his gorgeous Park Slope townhouse in 1967, he started spreading the word about townhouse restoration and preservation. He founded several magazines, including Traditional Building, Period Homes, and The Old House Journal, and has penned numerous print and web articles on the subject.

The Award for Excellence in the Arts is only the most recent of Clem’s many honors. The National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Preservation League of New York State, and our own favorite brownstone organization, the Brownstone Revival Coalition (www.brownstonerevival.org) have all recognized Clem’s achievements.

To find out more about Clem, check out his blog, The CIVITAS Chronicles.

Congratulations, Clem!
